Payment
Payment for
accommodation can be made by:
- PayPal ©, an eBay company (secure online payments by credit card or direct credit)
- Bank cheque
- Personal cheque (subject to bank clearance)
- Travellers cheques
- Cash or bank transfer
PayPal © and credit card payments attract an additional fee
of up to 4%. Where a refund is applicable, this fee is not refundable.
This charge may change from time to time and we will advise you at the time of
payment.
To secure your booking we will need the following payments,
and additional items on arrival:
- A deposit
- The balance paid on arrival
- A security bond via a signed credit card authority
form is required on arrival (VISA / MasterCard only)
- Identification from either an Australian driver's licence or a current
Passport is required on arrival
Self-catering accommodation
All of our accommodation is self-catering. This means you have all the
facilities to cook & clean yourself during your stay. It is your responsibility
to keep the unit clean. We provide you with some cleaning products and a vacuum
cleaner.
This allows us to keep our rental prices low.
We also supply you with an initial amount of soap, toilet paper and washing detergent.
However once that runs out you must buy your own.
Sydney units :
All Sydney units have an automatic departure clean built in to the total quoted
price. Please note that even with this "departure clean" you are still expected to keep the unit clean & tidy during your stay; which includes wiping up all spills on surfaces
/ fridge /
microwave / oven, vacuuming the couch for food spills, washing-up and putting away all cooking items, glasses, plates etc, with nothing left in the dishwasher; or left out to be washed or put away.
The unit needs to be left in a clean & tidy state with no marks on tables /
mirrors / windows or on any other surface. Your departure clean includes dusting, deodorising the fridge, cleaning the bathroom / shower / toilet, vacuuming the apartment and mopping the floors only.
Based on the unit size we expect to spend a maximum of 2 hours cleaning a studio / 1 bedroom unit, or a maximum of 3 hours cleaning a 2 bedroom unit. If we need to spend more time than this, we charge an extra AUD$40 per hour for additional time in cleaning the unit.
Higher fees for corporate bookings apply.
Melbourne units :
On your departure you must ensure the unit is
left clean & tidy, which includes wiping up all spills
on surfaces / fridge / microwave / oven, vacuuming the
apartment, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, with no marks
left on tables / mirrors / windows or on any other surface. If it is not left clean & tidy then a cleaning fee will be charged.
Depending on the size of the unit the cleaning fee may be up to $220 and will be
charged to your security bond. So it is
your responsibility to leave the unit clean & tidy.
Number
of people staying
The quote provided to you is for 1 or 2 people (unless we
state the quote was for greater than 2 people). We do not offer single rates.
Each additional person, including infants, occurs an additional charge of $50
per week or part of a week.
VERY IMPORTANT
- there
are local council restrictions on the number of people staying per apartment.
If you wish to have more people staying than the number we have quoted,
please check with us, (before you book), if additional people can stay in the
apartment. The number of people
is restricted to 2 people per bedroom. Exceptions are for children under
16 years old, or guests (if we have agreed) for a few nights only. If we
feel the number of people requested will not be comfortable or be too many in
the apartment we may decline to accept a booking.
Please
note sofa beds are not automatically classified as a bed. Our double sofa
beds are not adequate for two people on a longer term basis. Sofa beds are
restricted to a single adult or young children for shorter stays.
Please
note if additional people are staying than have been agreed, you will be asked
to leave and no refund provided. Any council fines will be charged to your
security bond.
Confirmation of
your booking
When you make a booking, with the deposit paid, your
confirmation details will be emailed or faxed to you within 3 days. This will be
the record of your booking. If the confirmation is not received by you within 3
days of booking, please contact us by email or phone.
The booking is not guaranteed until you receive the confirmation from us. We
will not issue the confirmation until we receive a deposit of between AUD$500
and AUD$1000 depending on the cost of the apartment, the dates required
and the length of stay. The balance must be paid in full for the entire period
booked prior to the keys being provided.
Security bond
A signed credit card authority form serves as your security bond and
is required on arrival. We only accept VISA or MasterCard for your security bond.
A hold will be placed on your credit card funds to a value between AUD$500 to
AUD$700 (depending in which unit you stay in).
This will reduce your available credit limit between AUD$500 to AUD$700 for the duration of your stay.
This hold is not debited against your card, it simply reduces your limit by this
amount.
Your credit card will only be debited in the event that there are outstanding charges, damages,
or loss caused to the
property during your stay. This amount may be over AUD$500 or AUD$700. That is, you are liable for any outstanding charges and/ or the repair or
replacement value of damage or loss to the property regardless of the amount.
You are also liable for any time and effort involved in replacing or repairing
any item that has been damaged or lost / stolen. Your signed security bond form remains the property of ShortStays.net.
Please review your credit card limit prior to arrival to ensure you have sufficient
funds. You also need to provide identification from either an Australian driver's licence or a current passport.
Arrival & Departure times
Arrival time is 2:00 PM and departure time is 10:00 AM unless prior arrangements have been made.
The cost for early arrival (before 2PM) or late departure (after 10AM) is $40 pending availability.
Late arrivals - please note we may be unable to cater for late arrivals. As we do not live on site or operate like a hotel, there are additional charges for arrivals outside of our operating hours (9AM - 6PM). These additional costs are: arrivals from 6PM to 9PM - $40 , arrivals from 9PM to 10PM - $60 and arrivals from 10PM to 11PM - $80.
Changes to dates
Once your booking has been confirmed by us, we may accept amendments
received from you within 48 hours of the initial booking, pending availability. Any changes
requested after this
time will result in additional charges unless the changes are made more than 3
months before the commencement of your booking. For changes made less than 3
months before the commencement of your stay please refer to "Cancellation"
conditions for the treatment of any changes.
Changes cannot be made at the
commencement of your stay and full cost of the accommodation booked is required
on arrival. We reserve the right to refuse accommodation if the payment is not
made in full.
If any portion of the booked period is cancelled after arrival, we are not able
to refund any monies.
Travel insurance should be sought to protect you against
any unforeseen changes to your travel plans.
Cancellation
- Where a cancellation is made 3 months or more prior to the commencement date of the
booking we will refund your deposit (less any bank fees, or other fees if payment has been made by credit card).
- Where a cancellation is made less than 3 months, but more than 1 month,
prior to the
commencement date of the booking we will endeavour to arrange an alternative
booking. If we are able to arrange an alternative booking for the same period
and for the same rental price, a refund will be provided
(less any bank fees, or other fees if payment has been made by credit card) less
10% of the total booking amount. If we are unsuccessful at receiving an alternative booking your deposit is
non-refundable.
- If you cancel your booking within a month prior to the commencement of your stay your booking deposit
is non-refundable.
Cleaning &
breakages
The apartment will be cleaned
prior to your arrival. Some cleaning products will be provided at the
commencement of your stay. The apartment should be left clean & tidy upon your departure, with the exception of linen
and towels which will be changed when you depart. Each unit is supplied with some cleaning products,
a mop, wet-wipes / cleaning sponges, a broom / dust-pan and a vacuum cleaner to
enable you to keep the place clean during your stay. You may need to replenish
these cleaning products during your stay.
All breakages, damages, lost or missing items must be paid for, plus time &
effort involved, with the charge made against your
security bond to cover replacement or repair costs.
A washing machine & dryer are supplied or available in some apartments to enable
you to wash your linen and towels. Alternatively we will provide details
of nearby Laundromats for your use.
Issues during your stay
From time to time items may break or get damaged through normal wear and
tear. We will endeavour to repair or replace these items as soon as possible
during your stay, however we cannot guarantee the issue will be rectified during
your stay as this may be reliant on outside factors, eg trades people. You may
be provided some small compensation at our discretion.
Goods kept at the
property
We are not
liable under any circumstances for loss, theft or damage to your property/
belongings, or personal injury. We advise you to purchase travel insurance to
cover unforeseen circumstances such as injury and/ or loss/ damage to your
personal belongings.
Excessive water and electricity charges
If we receive a
bill for your unit and note that it is excessive, we reserve the right to charge
your security bond these additional amounts that are over and above normal
usage. Please ensure lights, heaters and air-conditioners are all turned off
before you leave the unit and are not left running for more that 3-4 hours at a
time.
Excessive use also risks burning out the heater / air-conditioner motor in which case you will
be liable for its repair and the amount charged to your security bond (plus
credit card fees).
Goods left at the
property
If items are not claimed
within 14 days
they will be given to a local charity. If you want items posted back we will do so at your cost.
Changes to our
Terms and Conditions
We reserve the
right to change
these Terms and Conditions at any time, and without notice.
What is
included in your accommodation cost?
- Bed linen and blankets (plus sofa bed linen if applicable)
- Towels, bath mat & hand towel
- All kitchen utensils (pots, pans, frying pan, tea towels, knives, glasses, cutlery & crockery)
- Basic cleaning products (vacuum cleaner, detergents & sprays, sponges etc)
- Iron & ironing board
- Water, electricity and/ or gas
- Go to the "Apartment Facilities" section of each apartment for further
details
- A small selection of DVDs, books & magazines are in each apartment
- We also have children's cartoon DVDs available on request
Smoking
All properties are non-smoking. Where applicable, ash trays are provided outside.
Smoking inside will attract a $150 cleaning & deodorising fee - non-negotiable.
